The Peruvian Andes provide a vast system of trails, from the lower
valleys
to the higher passes, there's plenty of options. The weather splits
the year
in two, wet season, from November to March, and dry for the rest of
the
year, being these last months the best time for hiking and camping.
Most
campsites are around 3800mts, so cold temperatures must be expected
at
night. A maximum altitude gain of +1000mt per day is standard. The
snow line lies at an average of 4800mts so vegetation still provides
nice shelter at
lunch spots and campsites. Villages are found up to 3600mts, with
friendly
campesinos making their means of living from live stock and farming.
Our
Mountain Guides will help on translating the landscape and local
culture as
well. Cooks, Porters, and Mule Drivers will provide enough support
along day
walks, and our quality camping gear, to match the high altitude,
will
enhance comfort and safety. |
